The Palace of Knossos

Knossos was (probably) the capital of the Minoan civilization. Sir Arthur Evans excavated it starting in 1900, and attemped to reconstruct part of it. Since he was one of the first archeologists, he didn't know any better.

Parts I thought photographed well

One of the lightwells. It was under a canvas shade, which gave the excellent sand color to the gray stone.

The dolphin fresco from the "Queen's Room".

The view from the middle back of the palace. Another lightwell is on the left, and one of the overlooking hills is in the background.
